Important Update from Your GP Practice

Our new online system

From the week commencing Monday 4th August, our practice will be switching to a new online system called Anima.

What is Anima?

Anima is a secure, easy-to-use platform that allows you to contact the practice online for medical or administrative help. It helps us manage requests more efficiently, ensuring patients are directed to the right care at the right time.

Benefits to You:

  • Submit requests anytime during our online hours
  • Get quicker responses and updates
  • No need to wait on the phone

All requests are handled by a GP in a safe and confidential way.

Anima FAQs

How does Anima work?

The practice operates a full triage system via Anima. After completing the online form the Duty Doctor will determine who the most appropriate clinician is for you for either a face-to-face or telephone consultation. The practice reception team will then be in contact to arrange the appointment with you via either text message or telephone call.

Why has the practice changed to Anima?

GP practices are contractually required to offer online consultations that can be used by patients, carers and by practice staff on a patient’s behalf, to gather submitted structured information and to support triage. Ensuring that patients are seen by the appropriate clinician in the right place and the right time means that patient care and experience is improved, and it reduces pressure on GP practices, allowing GPs to spend their time where it is needed the most.

Can I use Anima to submit a prescription request?

Yes. You can also continue to request via your local pharmacy or by dropping a repeat prescription request into one of the dedicated boxes at the surgery.

Is Anima an app?

No, Anima is not an app currently. It can only be accessed through the practice website. The Anima team are working on integration with the NHS app and we will update you when this has happened.

How will you make contact with me?

Depending on the nature of your request and our response, we may contact you in various ways. For example, we may be able to process your request without having to speak to you and therefore will send you an SMS and/or email.

If we need to speak to you directly, then we will contact you via telephone - please ensure you answer if you are expecting a call from our team.

How do I submit a request on behalf of someone else?

If you’re submitting a request for someone else, you fill out the Anima form the same way you would for yourself — just make sure to enter their details instead of yours.
